Job Description
WCA Campus Description:
Westminster Canadian Academy (WCA) is a K-11 educational cooperative located in the city Gwacheon - just south of Seoul. We are a small community, established in a lovely natural setting on a hillside with trees, flowers, gardens, a nature trail, and beautiful views of Gwanaksan Mountain. We have a diverse student body with fantastic parental and community support. WCA follows a Canadian-based curriculum.
Teaching Opportunities for 2020-2021:
1. Position: Math & Science Teacher
This is a secondary level teacher position, which (depending on expertise/experience) could either be a mostly math or mostly science teaching assignment. Background in Physics would be preferred.
Requirements: Interested applicants must hold the following:
- Bachelors + Education degree
- valid teaching certification
- prior experience as a classroom teacher (preferred)
- hold or be eligible for a Korean F-Visa or possess Korean citizenship
2. Position: ELL Classroom Teacher
This position would involve teaching a class of ELL learners who are not yet ready to access the regular WCA curriculum for subjects such as ELA, math, science, and social studies. The class would include elementary students from Grade 2-5.
Requirements: Interested applicants must hold the following:
- Bachelors + Education degree
- valid teaching certification
- certification / training in ESL (preferred)
- prior experience as a classroom teacher (preferred)
- hold or be eligible for a Korean F-Visa or possess Korean citizenship
3. Position: Guidance Counsellor / Teacher
This would be a K-11 counsellor position, but would primarily involve academic and career counseling responsibilities for students in middle school and high school. For high school, there would be particular emphasis on guiding students through the college application and entrance process. Also, the Guidance Counsellor will be expected to take on some career education-related teaching responsibilities.
Requirements: Interested applicants must hold the following:
- Bachelors + Education degree
- valid teaching certification
- prior experience / training in counselling
- prior experience as a classroom teacher (preferred)
- hold or be eligible for a Korean F-Visa or possess Korean citizenship
Working Conditions:
working hours: Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
staff meetings: one-two weekly from 3:40 - 4:40 PM
supervision: some recesses during the week
